From June 1st 2007, every property that is put on the market for sale in England and Wales will require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) as part of the Home Information Pack (HIP). The Energy Performance Certificate forms part of an EU directive and within two years all privately rented property (including Social Housing) will require an Energy Performance Certificate.
